Peri Peri
This is another spice I brought back from South Africa. I cannot wait to try it.
Peri-peri, also known as piri-piri, has many potential health benefits due to its vitamins, minerals, and capsaicin.
Vitamins and minerals
- Vitamin A, C, and E: Antioxidants that help protect the body from oxidative stress
- B vitamins: Help with energy metabolism
- Magnesium and potassium: Essential nutrients
Capsaicin
- Metabolism boost: Increases metabolic rate and promotes fat burning
- Pain relief: Has analgesic properties that can help with arthritis
- Mood enhancement: Dilates pupils, increases metabolic rate, and releases endorphins
Other health benefits
- Cardiovascular health: May improve blood circulation and lower blood pressure
- Immune system support: High vitamin C content helps fight infections and illnesses
- Digestive health: High fiber content can help with digestion and constipation
- Muscle repair and growth: Protein content can help with muscle repair and growth
Considerations
Peri-peri sauce can be high in sodium and may contain added sugars and preservatives. Homemade versions with fresh ingredients are generally healthier.
